Seniors

HGC Seniors Section

Established in 2022, our Seniors Section continues to grow and evolve. Before its formal creation, it was informally organised by a group of enthusiastic and proactive members.

We are an active and welcoming community, offering regular golf for players of all abilities, managed by committees drawn from our membership.

New Members
All new HGC members aged 55+ are introduced to a Seniors Committee member, whose role is to welcome you and invite you to participate in our activities.

Regular Games
* Tuesdays & Thursdays: ‘Roll-up’ games take place with tee times from 10 AM, usually in a team format. Enter your name via the Club Systems Members Hub between 10 AM and 11 AM and arrive for a 10 AM ball draw.
* Some members also play on other days and will be happy to welcome you to their groups.

Competitions
* Mid-week Competitions: Held during the summer, typically featuring a Stableford and a Medal each month.
* Men’s Seniors Championship: The July Medal, played over 18 holes from the white tees.
* Club-wide Mid-week Competitions: Available to all members if you’re unable to play in the seniors-only events.

Inter-club Matches
* We play home-and-away matches with 10 other clubs each year, all within about an hour’s drive of HGC.
* Matches are friendly but competitive, followed by food and socializing.
* At the start of each season, members can request which matches they’d like to play.
* Current participating clubs include: Bromborough, Childwall, Llangollen, Lymm, North Wales, Portal, Runcorn, Vicars Cross, Wrexham, and Wychwood Park.
* Exchange days are also arranged with other clubs, such as Leigh GC.

Players and reserves for each match are assigned based on preferences. If selected, you are expected to play in both home and away matches for the chosen clubs.

Open Events & Volunteering
HGC hosts annual Open events for golfers from other clubs, with Men’s Seniors events held in June and September. Our committee organizes marshalling for these events, and we appreciate any help from our members.

Communication & Social Events
* Updates are shared via email and on the Seniors Section notice board in the locker room.
* Quarterly newsletters keep all registered members informed.
* A Christmas lunch is held each year, open to all members.

Additional Golf Opportunities
Some of our members arrange group visits to other clubs (up to 20 players at a time). While these are not committee-led, we coordinate to avoid fixture clashes whenever possible.

We look forward to welcoming you to the HGC Seniors Section!
